Fukasa-Kai Kotora: Young Tigers
The Kotora Program is a unique children’s program of the martial arts that was developed by C.R. Marshal, Shihan (deceased) a great master of the martial arts who believed that martial arts training should be balanced equally between physical and philosophical study. His fluency in many languages, experience soldering in 5 wars, and life experience as an American residing in Europe and all over the Asian continent, rendered his intellect far beyond his time.
C. Nemeroff, Soke had the honor of critiquing and contributing to this great program before it was implemented in Marshal, Shihan’s dojo... And now the program lives on through Fukasa-Kai.
Kotora-Do: Tao of the Young Tiger
The Kotora is expected to serve as a role model for all other adolescent students of the dojo. It is a distinction of honor that is highly regarded in Fukasa-Kai. To qualify as a Kotora, one must demonstrate the qualities of commitment, diligence and discipline in the dojo in addition to a prerequisite martial aptitude. To maintain the distinction of being a Kotora, a student has to show that they are applying these qualities to other areas of their lives, outside of the context of the dojo. A Kotora is expected to develop "good routines" such as eating healthy and getting academic, homework done without procrastination. And they are required to conduct themselves in a respectful and courteous manner toward the people whom they interact with in their everyday lives.
